Clare joined us in January 2018 as our Technical Assistant and quickly became the ‘go to’ for technical questions.
Technical Assistant – how did that happen? I started in financial services around 11 years ago in an administrative position for an independent financial adviser. This quickly led to a junior paraplanning role in which I realised that I liked the technical side of things and problem solving. I decided to complete the certificate in Paraplanning followed by the Diploma in Financial Planning to increase knowledge and prove my technical abilities.
What drew you to JSFPL? The fact that the company manages to complement professionalism with a family and friendly feel. Also, the fact that we are female led, which you don’t find very often in financial services.
What keeps you smiling at work everyday? My colleagues. Emma K can’t help but keep us topped up with treats when she sees it’s needed.
What are you saving for? I wish I could say something more exciting but home improvements and a rainy day.
When you’re not at JSFPL, what keeps you busy? Making sure I spend time with friends and family, especially my two-year-old niece. For treats I enjoy spa days and champagne afternoon teas!
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be? Not to worry about being scared! It’s horrible having to push yourself outside of your comfort zone but you always get great returns for doing so.
What goals are you working towards now? Professionally I am working towards completing the advanced financial planning exams. Personally, my goal is to keep experiencing and learning new things/ visiting new places. I try not to say no to too many things.
