Bake Off Success

Even the cold and wet weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of our keen amateur bakers at last month’s annual Harrold Pit Run Bake Off. The standards of baking were very high this year, with inventiveness and creativity topping the agenda. The number of entries was slightly up on last year’s event and we were very impressed at the hard work and effort that home bakers had put into their creations. We were also delighted to be sponsoring it again and providing the prizes.

Thanks go to the WI for their judging, which they admitted was very hard due to the high standards of baking they saw in all 4 of the different categories.

  • 6 cupcakes of any style – Children aged 11 & under
  • 6 cupcakes of any style – Children aged 12 to 16
  • Best cake (fruit, chocolate, carrot etc.) – 16 years +
  • Best sponge cake (Victoria, Madeira etc.) – 16 years +

The only way we could demonstrate the imagination and skill of the bakers was to share with you some examples of their work. We think you’ll agree that they are brilliant and really do make you feel hungry. Roll on 2019!
