Well, at Jane Smith Financial Planning, we’ve been providing financial advice to the residents of Olney and beyond since the practice was first established by Jane Smith herself in 1994. Nicola Watts, her daughter, joined the family business in 2000 and has been a director since 2006, taking on sole responsibility for the management of the firm when her mother retired.

Family values are therefore very much at the heart of the business. Nicola is supported by a highly trained and well qualified team.

We offer a highly personal approach to all our clients, helping them focus on their financial future. We’re known for being friendly and approachable while at the same time offering a professional and knowledgeable financial planning service. We will work in partnership with you to help you set goals and, wherever possible, achieve them!

    Director and Certified Financial Planner

    Nicola has been qualified to provide advice since 2001, and has been a director of the business since 2006. Since the retirement of her mother (Jane Smith), Nicola now bears sole responsibility for the management of the firm, and the advice provided to clients. Her common sense and direct approach means that she is able to easily communicate the often dry aspects of financial advice, bringing clarity to the most complicated areas of financial planning.

    She is a Chartered Financial Planner and holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Licence, an internationally recognised benchmark for competence, with fewer than 1,000 licensees in the UK. Although her advanced level qualifications and expertise mainly lie in the areas of pensions, investments and inheritance tax planning, Nicola’s focus is on financial planning and helping her clients to achieve their goals in life.

    Nicola is married to David and has two young children, Emily and Olivia. She has lived locally for more than 30 years. Most of her spare time is spent enjoying time with her family and Poppy the Labrador.

  • Emma Krynauw Office Manager

    Emma Krynauw

    Office Manager

    Emma joined the company in October 2012. She takes responsibility for the running of the office and is the first point of contact for client enquiries. She also supports Nicola with business networking and marketing.

    Emma has many years of Private Banking and Financial Services experience and holds a full Financial Planning Certificate.

    She is married and has a son. Emma has an active social life and enjoys the gym.

  • Clare Lehman Paraplanner

    Clare Lehman


    Clare Lehman joined the company in January 2018 as our new Paraplanner.

    Clare has worked in the financial services industry for 10 years and has successfully completed the Certificate in Paraplanning and Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.  She is looking forward to studying for the Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning so that she can become a Chartered Financial Planner.

    Clare lives in Milton Keynes with her husband and enjoys going to the theatre, reading and spending time with friends and family.

  • Michael Bacon Technical Assistant

    Technical Assistant

    Michael joined the business in March 2018 as our new Technical Assistant.

    Michael has spent the past couple of years working in inventory management and stock accuracy within the supply chain sector and is looking forward to the challenge of the financial services industry. He will be working hard to support Nicola, Clare and clients with the technical aspects of financial planning.

    Michael has a passion for Fine Art and culture and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

  • Amy Nechat Office Administrator

    Office Administrator

    Amy joined us in May 2016 as our office administrator.

    She has a wealth of client experience and looks after the very busy administration side of the business.

    Amy lives in Olney with her daughter and partner. She enjoys socialising, spending time with friends and family and the delights of musical theatre.

    She has a love of all animals – especially dogs. If not busy at her desk, Amy can be found fussing over Poppy.

    Office Dog

    Poppy joined the team as a puppy in July 2013. She is a black Labrador and her responsibilities include monitoring the biscuits and being fussed by all members of staff.

    She has no plans to study for financial qualifications and is not authorised to provide advice.

Nicola has a range of qualifications in financial services, is a Chartered Financial Planner and holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Licence – an internationally recognised benchmark for competence and a measure of the best financial planning results. The firm has also recently been awarded Chartered status, the industry’s gold standard, which is only ever given after rigorous testing.

Transparent fee structure

We pride ourselves on being a service-based business and on offering value for money and total transparency – this applies to our fee structure as well as our advice. We always meet with you, at the outset, to discuss your requirements and the initial meeting is always at our expense. All other fees are agreed by discussion and the level of fees depends entirely on the level of financial planning you require.
